GeoUpdater
GeoUpdater reads location data from your Fire Eagle account as you move and automatically push status updates to various social sites (e.g.Facebook,...) using their respective APIs. A georss feed generator for blogs and FriendFeed integration is under development.

Before using this application, sign up for a free Fire Eagle account so that you can automatically or manually update your location from your phone (J2ME client or web interface at http://m.fireeagle.com/)

Please send any comments to nico (at) linuxinside.org. Facebook users can comment on the GeoUpdater page (you can become a fan to get updates)

NEW!: Opt in for location history and get your FireEagle locations as a geoRSS feed!

You should now authorize Fire Eagle and each application you want to update: when asked, make sure you grant all the necessary permission to GeoUpdater or it won't be able to make API calls to the services.
  1. first, authorize Fire Eagle to share your location information with GeoUpdater (or change settings if needed). Fire Eagle lets you control your privacy by choosing different read level for location data (from exact gps coordinates to country) and you can always revoke this permission at any time in your Fire Eagle account configuration.

  2. Now, you can:
    • add Geoupdater application to your Facebook account and grant the extended status update permissions to it (yes, you can always revoke this permission by removing the application from your Facebook account)
    • opt in for location history and let GeoUpdater generate a GeoRSS feed you can add to your lifestreaming services (FriendFeed, etc), Google Maps, etc.

You're done. Any time you update your location from your phone or Fireeagle web interface, GeoUpdater will push the new location information to your Facebook status.
